My dad was one of the fortunate disabled veterans. Even though he lived alone, he had the means to get services and his local Veterans Administration hospital provided him excellent care. The Albany, NY VA could not have been more supportive and responsive.
Taking him to doctors' appointments there was always awe-inspiring. World War II veterans helping Iraq war veterans with PTSD navigate the system...Vietnam vets wheeling Korean War vets down the halls...
